Megan Hess

Megan Hess, Owner & Funeral Director

Megan Koch-Hess has been a Colorado resident since 1980 when her family moved to the Vail area from New York. Megan married Montrose native and Electrical Contractor, Dustin Hess in 2000. They established their home in the Pea Green area and enjoyed living on the family farm in Olathe until 2011 when they relocated to Montrose. In May of 2010, their daughter, Peyton Marie was born.

Megan specializes in personalized funeral services for Western Colorado families and includes them in the process as much as possible. She also specializes in grief and family counseling to help deal with grief and other related issues. She is a licensed insurance agent in the State of Colorado to assist with final expense insurance.

Megan has been involved in many community organizations such as Special Events Volunteer for Hospice, Hospice's Mending Hearts Grief Group, Former President of Business Networking International, For-Kin Trails Genealogy Society, American Cancer Society Relay for Life Board, Member of Financial Connections, Black Canyon Business Association, Valley Symphony Board of Directors and the Montrose Memorial Hospital Ethics Committee. Megan also writes a funeral service advise column for the Montrose Daily Press and has had a radio talk show on KUBC.

Megan dedicates most of her time at the funeral home serving families but when she gets a little time away she enjoys spending time with family and friends, having a pedicure with Peyton and traveling with her family on the rodeo circuit.

Give Megan a call to discuss preplanning or any service related questions that you may have. She is a friendly face in the community and is always glad to be of help.

"At a time when personalized, professional service and respect is of the utmost importance, let our family take care of your family. We'll be here when need us." MH

Peyton Marie Hess was born on May 13, 2010 in Montrose Colorado to adoring parents, Dustin William and Megan Marie (Koch) Hess. At a week old, Peyton began coming to the funeral home with her momma. A few mornings a week Peyton attends Bright Beginnings Preschool to meet new friends and learn social skills. Peyton is a beautiful little girl and our families at the funeral home enjoy her sweet smile and interaction as we serve them.

Scott Beilfuss

Scott Beilfuss, Preplanning Counselor

Scott moved to Grand Junction in 1984 from Milwaukee Wisconsin to work for Jostens. He grew up in Medford Wisconsin where he still has family and enjoys going back for some fishing and boating at the family cabin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a degree in Business/Human Resources and worked for Manpower in Milwaukee before moving to Grand Junction.

Scott sold graduation announcements, diplomas, caps and gowns and class rings to thousands of students in high schools (Delta, Montrose, Olathe included) and colleges on the Western Slope for 27 years and loved it! During that time he donated countless hours working with student councils, teachers and sporting events putting on seminars, working games and doing special projects for schools. Scott was known for his great service and dependability in meeting all those graduation deadlines. He recently retired from Jostens and earned his insurance licenses for the State of Colorado.

Scott has two children, Katie and Matt who both live and work in Denver. Matt is a cook and event coordinator for the Sheraton in Downtown Denver and Katie is an aesthetician at Center for Advanced Dermatology in Lakewood. During my free time I enjoy the Colorado outdoors, traveling and volunteering for various Mesa County non-profits.

Scott chose to work in the pre-need area for Sunset Mesa because he loves working with older people after spending so many years working with teenagers. He enjoys helping folks work on a part of their life that sometimes is hard for them. He likes being the steady and compassionate person they can feel comfortable working with.
